Beach town...

I live in a beach town.... did I ever mention that?

Today I came home from a going away party for one of my best friends, this party was in Belgium. Since I don't own a car I went and took the train there and back. When I stepped on the train that would bring me to my home town, there were all kinds of people getting on to go to the beach because of the lovely weather. Right there I realised I was lucky to be living in a town where people love to come when the weather is nice. A place where people want to be in the summer time. Where it will be busy until all hours of the night on those warm summer days.
On the beach in front of the Hotel D'Orange in Zandvoort

My town is a friendly loving place right next to the beach, I am literally a 5 minute bike-ride away from the beach... If you want to go out for dinner, we can go to one of the many restaurants on the beach; great scenery, the sound of the waves rolling in, good food, a lovely sunset, what more do you want?We have race-circuit, a little downtown with one of those little pavillions in the center of town, some small shops, bakeries, butcher, bikeshop, a train-station, a couple of supermarkets. The bells from city hall playing a certain melody on the hour every hour....

Its a place where when you need something done to your bike and your neighbor happens to own the bike-shop, he will just come pick your bike up take it with him have everything done to it that needs to be done, and then drop it back off at your house, and tells you to pay for it when you are in the neighborhood of the store. The same goes for the person trying to fix your dishwasher. Seriously, they don't do that in the big cities. People are just a little friendlier, willing to go the extra mile.

I am lucky to live in a great place like this, it makes you see the good in people. It gives you faith in mankind. Sure nothing is perfect, but today while I was standing in the train back home, I felt lucky to be living in such a great place that most people will only visit with good weather.

  2. The postcards are lovely! Such vintage things always give me a special cozy feeling.

I had a similar experience on Friday. I was having lunch at the beach (Scheveningen) and looking out over the sea I suddenly felt so rich!
